Lobsang Phuntsok
Lobsang Phuntsok is a former Buddhist monk and an internationally recognized figure in the field of transformative learning, sustainable development, and social entrepreneurship. In 2006, he left behind his life as a spiritual teacher in the US and returned to his native village in Tawang, Arunachal Pradesh, India, to start Jhamtse Gatsal Children’s Community, which translates to a "Garden of Love and Compassion.” The Community is a loving home, an immersive learning environment for vulnerable children, and a beacon of sustainable living and social responsibility, brought alive by the integrated educational and lifestyle model of Educating the Heart, Mind, and Body. Lobsang’s life and work are showcased in the Emmy Award winning documentary, Tashi and the Monk.
