Raise your Voice with Love

A critical part of the work that we do involves advocacy. There are many forms of advocacy, activism and raising one's voice. In this space we'll engage with a panel of a journalist, podcaster and an entrepreneur who care about a range of issues. We'll explore the theme of 'Raising our voice with love,' Does it sound like an oxymoron? Join this discussion to collectively explore this idea.

Amit Varma

Amit Varma is a writer and podcaster based in Mumbai. He hosts the weekly podcast, The Seen and the Unseen, which gets over 225,000 downloads a month. He started his career in advertising, moved on to television, and has been a journalist since 2001. He has written for the Wall Street Journal, the Guardian, the Observer and almost every Indian publication. He is currently a columnist for the Times of India, Bloomberg Quint and Cricket Next.

Avantika Singh

Avantika has been a broadcast journalist with over 15 years of experience. Starting in 2002, she has covered some of the biggest news stories and iconic moments in history, first as a producer-writer-reporter and then as a prime time anchor for the India Today group, one of India’s leading media brands. She is an educator at heart, having done the TFI Fellowship in 2011. She holds a deep interest in global diplomacy and conflict resolution and has done a Masters in Global Leadership and Global Affairs from the Fletcher School of Global Affairs at Tufts University.

Gitanjali Babbar

Geetanjali Babbar is the founder and director of a non-profit named Kat-Katha that works to empower and liberate sex workers in brothels of the largest red light area known as G.B. Road of Delhi. Today, Kat-Katha serves 3,600-4,000 sex workers and teaches them a new way of life. In addition to the training, the center also provides safe zones for the women and their children.

She has experience in leading large programs, strategic planning, people development and culture, design and training across NGOs as well as Ed Tech Organisations. Venil is passionate about social justice, equity and human rights. She is the creator and host of A New Kind of Celebrity Podcast.
